How to make Oninon bajias


Oninon bajias:-



Bhajias are a classic snack of India. The same better may be used with a variety of vegetables.

Makes timing 20 – 25 minutes

ØIngredients
Ø                       225 g/8 oz/2 cups gram flour ( besan)
Ø                        ½ tsp chilli powder
         1 tsp turmeric
Ø                       1 tsp baking powder
Ø                       ¼ tsp asafetida
Ø                      Salt to taste
Ø                       ½ tsp each, nigella, fennel, cumin and onion seeds, coarsely crushed
Ø                      2 large onions, finely sliced
Ø                      2 green chillies , finely copped
Ø                      50 g/2 oz/2 cups fresh coriander ( cilantro), chopped
Ø                     Cold water, to mix
Ø                     vegetable oil, for deep frying

Making Method
1.       In a bowl, mix together the flour, chilli, turmeric, baking powder, asafetida and salt to taste. Pass through a sieve (strainer) into a large mixing bowl.
2.       Add the coarsely crushed seeds, onion, green chillies and fresh coriander (cilantro) and toss together well. Very gradually mix in enough cold water to make a thick better surrounding all the ingredients.
3.       Heat enough oil in a karahi or work for deep-frying. Drop spoonful of the mixture into the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown. Leave enough space to turn the bhajias. Drain well and serve hot.
